FAQ

For the small things that need to get there

Send a file to your other device.

A screenshot for a support request. A PDF you need elsewhere. An attachment you don’t want to email yourself. Open a PasteRelay room in both browsers to upload and retrieve files up to 20MB each.

Upload here, open there

  1. Create a clipboard and select Copy link. Open that link on the receiving device.
  2. Select Upload File on the sending device, choose your file, and wait for it to appear in the feed.
  3. On the receiving device, find the file in the same room and use Download.

What fits?

Images, documents, and text files can fit within the 20MB per-file limit. Check the size before uploading. PasteRelay is not intended for large videos, archives, or backups.

Different browsers, the same link

Both browsers need an internet connection. They do not need the same operating system or Wi-Fi network. Sharing the link is the main connection method; a room QR code is an optional shortcut.

Before you share

Uploaded files are not end-to-end encrypted. Room expiration does not guarantee uploaded-file deletion, and recipients may keep copies. Use this workflow for ordinary files, not confidential documents requiring controlled retention.

If a download fails

Wait until the upload finishes, check your connection, and try Download again. If your browser opens a preview, use its save action. If the file exceeds 20MB, choose a dedicated large-file transfer service.
