Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about accounts, transfers, and privacy.
Is PasteRelay free to use?
Yes, PasteRelay is completely free. You can create temporary shared clipboards and encrypted one-time secret links without paying anything or creating an account.
How do I copy text from phone to computer without an app?
Open PasteRelay on your computer and select "Start Shared Clipboard". Use "Show QR Code & PIN" in the room, then scan the QR code with your phone camera. Add your text on your phone and copy it from the same room on your computer.
What is the file size limit for uploads?
Files up to 20MB can be shared in rooms. Room expiration and deletion trigger cleanup attempts, but uploaded-file deletion is not guaranteed or immediate. Recipients may keep copies.
Can I share code snippets with syntax formatting?
Yes. PasteRelay automatically detects programming languages (JavaScript, Python, Bash, JSON, SQL, and more), preserving exact indentation and offering 1-click clean copying.
How do One-Time Secrets protect sensitive data like passwords?
Quick Secrets use client-side AES-256 encryption. The decryption key stays inside the URL fragment (#key=...) and is never sent to our servers. Secrets can also be configured to burn after 1 reading.
